Our History

Under the guidance of Mary Lou Cobb, founder, the Cobb School began as a small community of nine children in 1974.

The School, on Sand Hill Road in Simsbury, Connecticut, a non-profit, non-sectarian Montessori school, now serves over 160 students, ages 2-12 years old, from the Farmington Valley area and beyond.

Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational method is at the heart of Cobb School. This pedagogy has proven successful for more than a century in tens of thousands of schools around the world.

Our faculty members are highly trained and experienced. Their devotion to the students, the parents and the entire community is unwavering. They share a love of learning and passion to educate students. They share a commitment to respecting each child journey through the stages of development.
