Nova Scotia & Bay of Fundy Adventure

August 7 – 18, 2023

Days 1 – 2: Preparing & Skill Building

Monday – Tuesday, August 7 – 8 (Day Camp, at Cobb School, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm)

At school, campers will work with guides to learn skills they will need for a successful trip. We will work on:

  • Team building
  • Expedition behavior
  • What to bring and how to pack
  • How to keep your gear dry
  • Menu planning & food prep
  • Camp cooking & cleanup
  • Tent setup and care
  • Orienting to the landscape with a topographic map

Days 3 – 12: Skills into Practice: Nova Scotia & the Bay of Fundy

Wednesday, Aug 9 (Overnight travel begins)

Day 3: 6:00 am departure for Bar Harbor, take CAT Ferry to Yarmouth, NS

Days 4 – 7: Canoe camping Kejimkujick National Park

August 10 – 13

  • Back country canoe-camping
  • Learn proper paddling & steering techniques
  • Explore the beautiful lakes and rivers of the Nova Scotia Interior

Day 8 – 11: Experience the shoreline of the Bay of Fundy

August 14 – 18

  • Experience the massive tides of the Bay of Fundy
  • Tidal bore rafting on Shubenacdie River
  • Search for 300 million year old fossils at Joggins Fossil Cliffs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Exploring the ocean floor at low tide
  • Chase whales in on a zodiac whale watch
